A Melbourne Bike Boutique day at the Races

Thursday 04 February, 2010 by TBB Melbourne

January marked a month of participation in the weekly summer crit racing series for The Bike Boutique. Based in South Melbourne and staged by the popular St Kilda Cycling Club the races are held over a street block and feature races from E to A grade with a separate women's and hand cycling race.

The races are a great way to get involved in community cycling with over 130 riders turning up on a Sunday morning to test themselves against local and national level riders. St Kilda Cycling Club is one of the largest local cycling clubs boasting over 550 members with female members making up 20% of this number.

The Bike Boutique team jersey has crossed the line three times in pole position both in B and C grade races. A fine tactical effort by new recruit Jesse Thomas and the Bike Boutique Melbourne's very own Steve Waite saw them victorious in an exciting late break away ride in category B this week. One more win will see them promoted to cat A where the fun will really start.

We are keen to have new riders join us and a chance to don The Bike Boutique jersey is an offer for the right applicants!

Have fun out there and we look forward to seeing you soon at the races!
